Christa Haley is a filmmaker based in New York City.
She grew up in rural northern NY and admired her grandfather, whose love
for making home movies inspired her dream of directing at age ten.

Christa is currently a thesis candidate at the NYU Graduate Film Program.
Her first short film Swim Captain received awards at Woodstock and RiverRun.
Her follow-up, Tragedy Babes, had its world premiere at Palm Springs ShortFest.

Christa began her career as a production intern on The Place Beyond the Pines
while working weekends at Blockbuster. She later became director
Derek Cianfrance’s assistant during the film’s post-production.
Since then, she has worked in the editing department on projects including
Mary Poppins Returns, Harriet, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, and
HBO’s limited series Scenes from a Marriage.

As a filmmaker, Christa is interested in exploring femininity through a dark, analytical lens.
She is currently developing her first feature screenplay, Melted Candy.
